ThiersLabs

About me

Welcome, I'm Sam Alex Thiers. I build the things I wish existed.

I'm a software developer from the Netherlands. During the day I work on apps that people use at work every day; in the evenings you'll usually find me tinkering with a project of my own.

Most of them start with a simple "how hard can it be?" That question got me my own file archiver, a file explorer, a little cryptosystem and even a typeface, the one you're reading right now. What I enjoy most is taking something complicated and making it feel easy.

How I like to work

  1. 01

    Curious first

I like to understand how something works before I change it. And when I say something is fast, I've measured it.

  2. 02

    Keep it tidy

Clear structure and code that's easy to follow, so the next person (often future me) doesn't get lost.

  3. 03

    People over features

I build for the people who use it. Watching someone try your app teaches you more than any spec.

  4. 04

    Finish the job

Done means someone else can install it, use it and understand it - not just that it works on my machine.
